“Making this documentary was a challenging process but in the end it was worth it. I feel that cinema has the power to change your thoughts and feelings in a transformative way. Going into 4th year I knew I wanted to test myself as a storyteller. When the world seemed to start falling apart in 2020 among all the things that happened I thought “what story should I tell?” I started looking at my own life and the city around me, and started asking the heavy questions of, “who am I?” In-Tents became my opportunity to grow and learn as a storyteller.

Stephanie Nakashima
Director
In her final year of film school at Sheridan College, she has honed her skills in producing and directing. With a strong sense of determination she hopes to climb the ranks of the industry after graduation. Stories of the heart with intention for real change and evocation of emotion are the driving force for all stories worth telling.
In-Tents is a project that automatically touched my heart. Empathy for others is the only way the world can operate, without it there is no humanity. I automatically knew I wanted to be part of the team that told this story in order to shed light on the misunderstandings regarding homelessness. This issue affects people all over the world and its universality made it that much more important of a story to tell. People everywhere are our neighbours and we must treat them as equals through all walks of life.
